Quinn River Bed

The Quinn River Bed, located near the Oregon–Nevada border in the far southeastern corner of Malheur County, is a remote thunderegg site known for producing nodules with rich, earthy agate interiors. Thundereggs from this bed often feature deep reds, browns, and golds, sometimes accented by mossy inclusions or subtle fortification patterns. The rhyolite matrix is typically rough and tan to reddish in color, and the eggs are generally solid, medium to large in size, and well-suited for slicing. Due to its isolated location, material from the Quinn River Bed isn’t as commonly seen as some other Oregon beds, but it’s prized by collectors for its bold colors and classic high-desert character.
