The Josephine Bed, tucked into the Ochoco Mountains of Crook County, is a classic Oregon thunderegg site known for producing dense, well-shaped nodules with striking internal detail. The eggs often feature vibrant moss and plume agates in earthy tones—reds, oranges, and browns—set against solid rhyolite matrix. Many specimens also include druzy quartz or intricate banding, making them excellent for cutting and polishing. Though not as widely known as nearby sites like Lucky Strike, the Josephine Bed holds a strong reputation among seasoned rockhounds for its rich, complex interiors.
