Blue Bed

The Blue Bed in Malheur County is a lesser-known thunderegg site that yields nodules with subtle to vibrant blue-gray agate centers. These thundereggs often feature translucent agate with occasional white or tan banding and may include moss or dendritic inclusions. The matrix tends to be dense and tan to reddish rhyolite, giving the cut faces a strong contrast. While it doesn’t have the visibility of more commercial beds, material from this site is valued by collectors for its calm color palette and clean cutting properties, offering a quieter but still striking expression of Oregon’s thunderegg diversity.
